“Scheier” is the Pennsylvania Dutch word for barn which is appropriate since this lamp features reclaimed White Oak from a century old timber-frame structure in Amish country.
Our original design has rough Oak dry-stacked on two faces which amplifies the diverse texture of the aged wood. The lamp’s other two faces are a stark contrast with stunning specimens of highly figured American Cherry.
The base and cap are Black Walnut as well as the accent pegs that seemingly hold it all together. Everything is finished in a German hardwax oil hand rubbed to a satin sheen.
We worked in close collaboration with the artisans at Wimberley Glassworks to create a one-of-a-kind handblown art glass shade. The form and colors provide a sense of movement with swirls of blue, green, and brown evocative of the sky peeking through a tree canopy.
The lamp has been professionally wired with UL-approved components including a heavy-duty brass 3-way socket (max. 150W) and a braided fabric covered copper wire cord.
